Let’s dread! The birth of your dreadlock!

First things first, you wash your hair reeeeealy well!
Not with usual shampoo, but with curd-soap or something similar. It’s important that your hair isn’t greasy or doesn’t have any hair-care products in it. Preparing your hair this way has two advantages: your dreads will be prettier and dreading them is a bit faster.
So, you scheduled an appointment, washed your hair in the aforementioned fashion, and you’ve decided how you want your dreads to look? Perfect, now the fun can begins!

Even your first dreads could look this good

1. Now we address any questions you might still have. As long as you still have doubts or unanswered questions the time hasn’t come to make your long awaited dreads.

2. You describe to me exactly how you imagine your dreads. Nothing stands in the way of you having exactly the dreads you want. Based on your description and the key factors: length of your hair, amount of hair, and hair structure we work together to find the best possible placement, style and size for your dreads

In contrast to the backcombing method, the dreads don’t lose 20% of their length

3. Your hair is then divided up into individual strands, and then dreaded one strand after another. I don’t use any wax, chemicals, matting-accelerator, adhesive or anything else to dread your hair. Over the years I have developed my own method of making dreadlocks. From this day forth the crochet needle will be your loyal companion.

In contrast to the backcombing method, the dreads don’t lose 20% of their length, it doesn’t hurt nearly as much, and it doesn’t take between 8 – 10 hours when I dread your hair. So, the dreads are matted all the way down to their roots! Initially your scalp will shine through a little, but that will change as soon as your hair grows.

4. Solidifying dreads using the crochet-method
Finally, we move on to solidifying the dreadlocks using the crochet-method: the dreads are created in two phases. First, the individual strands of hair are knotted together as described above. In the second phase, different sized crochet needles are used to work any outstanding hair into the dreads. This way your dreads are solid, equal in width and very tidy! If you are more into the “natural” look, now would be the time to say so.
